Our story…

It started with a walk…

The story began in February 2020 on a walk in Devon. Jonathan, a family portrait photographer based in Oxford, was visiting his friend Lizzie and her two children, Esther aged 12 and six-year-old Bea.

They were both open-eyed with wonder, and Esther began asking a lot of questions about photography and creativity. That conversation stayed with Jonathan, seeing how inquisitive children were both about the world and photography, and as he drove back home his brain started whirring at super fast speed!

Fast forward a few weeks and he launched an exciting and innovative online photography course for children at the start of the first lockdown. The course was a huge hit with families - both parents and children, who loved how wonder was so central to the course, and because Cultivating Wonder awakened a sense of real curiosity and awe in children.

Two years on and Cultivating Wonder is now under new ownership with a dedicated team consisting of Megan, Nick, Claire, Emma and Stephen working alongside Jonathan.

Together, they are taking the next steps on an exciting journey to cause a ‘wonder revolution’ in homes across the world. We have recently partnered with Yeo Valley (as an official Yeokens brand), Little Cooks and It Won’t Cost the Earth. We’re proud to have been featured in The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, The Mail on Sunday, Metro and Radio 4.

And thank you Esther! Without you, the course wouldn’t exist so it’s fair to say that we owe everything to you…
